Tongkat Ali is a plant or rather a small tree found in the tropical rainforests of South East Asia. Traditionally only the roots of the tree are used for medicinal purposes. The way it is consume by the indigenous people is to take a small amount of the root (usually 50 to 100 gram) and boil it with 20 ounces of water for an hour or so and then drink the ‘herbal soup’.

The next thing to look for is the dosage. Too little of Tongkat Ali extract does nothing for you. Bear in mind that Tongkat Ali is a herb and not a drug. So you need an appropriate amount of it to work. I suggest a minimum of at least 300 mg per capsule, per day.

Anything less than that, you are probably wasting your money.

As for the extract strength, I would say 1:100 works fine. Certainly 1:200 being the more potent one works better but it is also more expensive. If budget is not a concern, then you want to go for higher extract strength.

Other factor includes age of the roots. But this cannot be easily verified. You can only take the words of the manufacturer for it. This is why it is important to look for a supplier that offers a money-back guarantee. In the event that Tongkat Ali does not work for you, you can always fall back on the guarantee. You lose nothing.

Having said that though, you want to give Tongkat Ali extract a fair chance to see if it works for you. This means consistently taking it for at least 30 to 60 days. Like I mention earlier on, Tongkat Ali is not a drug. It is a herb. So it does not work immediately. In those cases where it does work almost immediately (as you can read from some user’s experiences on my website), they are the exceptions and not the rule.
