Tongkat Ali – Studying Its Effects
Tongkat Ali is the most popular natural aphrodisiac used by many men in different parts of the world. To most male Westerners, this is probably the greatest export of Southeast Asia. The effects of Tongkat Ali are almost endless for men who just want to be men.
The focus of Tongkat Ali is almost always on its effect on a person’s sex drive. It has been debated if it can indeed increase a man’s libido. Several studies have proven that fact and no other studies have proven otherwise. Even users of Tongkat Ali have proven to themselves that they can have better sex if the extract is taken.
One very famous study resulted to have the extract used patented by the Malaysian government and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. The research used a specific extract of Tongkat Ali on rats. After the introduction of the extract on the animals’ body system, the rats exhibited significant increase in sexual activity.
Tongkat Ali works by increasing the testosterone level in the body. Testosterone is the steroid hormone which is responsible why men are men. One of the most basic functions of testosterone is increasing the sex drive. As men grow older, the testosterone level in their body gets depleted, which is why not many old men are interested in sex. This is where Tongkat Ali comes in. It brings back the production of testosterone to the level where a man can have sexual desire again.
Not many people know that testosterone is also produced by the female ovaries. Although it does not really give a full masculine effect on them, the testosterone in them also induces their libido. Thus, Tongkat Ali can work for them as an aphrodisiac as well.
Another study done by Malaysian researchers suggested that Tongkat Ali also has an effect on the muscles. In the study, the group of researchers from Kuala Lumpur’s University of Malaya followed two groups of subjects: people in the first group were made to take Tongkat Ali and people in the second group were given a placebo. The results showed that people who took Tongkat Ali extract had significantly stronger and larger muscles than those who only took blank pills.
Other studies point out the effects of Tongkat Ali on cancer. It has been suggested that the extract can kill breast-cancer and lung-cancer cells. Tongkat Ali has also been used by the natives of Southeast Asia as a cure for malaria, which is a common tropical disease, fever and ulcer, although no study can prove these components of Tongkat Ali yet.
